Graduating with honours from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in composition, Dease’s artistic practice encompasses the realms of art music, pop culture, theatre and science. Dease won the inaugural Martin Sims Award for Best Performance and Music Award at Fringe World for her contemporary song cycle "City of Shadows", which also won the 2013 Melbourne Fringe Music Award and received critical acclaim at New York Fringe Festival. Her song cycle for small ensemble and planetary sounds "From a Small Distant World" premiered at The Art Gallery of Western Australian in 2015. Composition and sound design for theatre productions include Antigone (Black Swan/Matthew Lutton), 8Gigbytes of Hardcore Pornography (PTC/Griffin), Helpmann Award- nominated It’s Dark Outside (PTC) and New Owner (The Last Great Hunt). Installations include Epic Narratives and Black Mass (PICA 2015). Dease has been a Besen Fellow at Malthouse Theatre (2013), resident artist at Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (2015) and Lumen Studios - Atina, Italy (2016). Dease was recently awarded the 2017 DCA Performing Arts Fellowship.
