THE SILENCE KNEW - Single Release

26.02.2021

Rachael Dease releases The SILENCE KNEW 26.02.2021
Single from album Hymns for End Times

The Silence Knew

The first vocal track from Hymns for End Times, The Silence Knew begins at the end of the story.

Both prologue and epilogue to a moment some have lived and some have feared, it draws on bruised orange skies, falling ash, and ventures into an apocalyptic future.

”There are several moments during Hymns for End Times where the perspective shifts to that of a child, and The Silence Knew is one of them. The visual companion to the track reflects this - a small beautiful mess of naivety, confusion, loneliness and unbreakable hope.”

Known for her award-winning theatre and dance scoring, and as the former front person of Perth band Schvendes, Hymns for End Times is a personal, unapologetic amalgamation of her talents.

While Dease’s songs and voice have been compared to Nick Cave, Chelsea Wolfe, PJ Harvey and Agnes Obel, Hymns for End Times is part-song, part symphony with shades of Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Henri Gorecki.
